Originally based on a small plein air painting completed on location in the Catskill Mountains in New York state, this larger re-imagining of the original location is a synthesis of the original study, memory, imagination and design. The painting captures subtleties of lighting and variations in transparency and opacity that grant a sense of presence available only to oil painting.
